โ€œKinstretch is a movement enhancement system that develops maximum body control, flexibility, and USABLE ranges of motion.โ€

Kinstretchยฎ Explained

Kinstretch is a movement practice and mobility training system developed by Dr. Andreo Spina, a chiropractor and movement specialist. It focuses on improving and enhancing joint health, mobility, and body control. Kinstretch is designed to help individuals increase their active range of motion, flexibility, strength, and overall physical performance while reducing the risk of injury.

Key principles and components of Kinstretch include:

Functional Range Conditioning (FRC)

FRC is a foundational component of Kinstretch that involves a systematic approach to joint training. It aims to improve the health and function of each joint in the body by increasing its range of motion, strength, and control.

Mobility Training

Kinstretch emphasizes mobility work that is often divided into various body segments or specific joints. Participants engage in exercises and movements that target specific areas of the body, such as the hips, shoulders, spine, knees, ankles and feet (and everywhere in between).

Controlled Articular Rotations (CARs)

CARs are a fundamental part of Kinstretch and involve performing slow and controlled movements at each joint's maximum range of motion. This helps improve joint health and maintain or expand the available range of motion.

Isometrics and PAILs/RAILs

Kinstretch incorporates isometric exercises, as well as Progressive Angular Isometric Loading (PAILs) and Regressive Angular Isometric Loading (RAILs) techniques. These techniques are used to strengthen the muscles around a joint while working through various ranges of motion.

Active Stretching

Unlike passive stretching, which relies on external forces to move a joint, Kinstretch encourages active stretching. Participants engage their own muscles to move into and control stretches, promoting greater body awareness and control.

Kinstretch is beneficial for individuals of all fitness levels and backgrounds, including athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and those just seeking to improve their overall mobility and joint health. It can be used as a standalone practice or integrated into other fitness routines.

Benefits of Kinstretchยฎ + Mobility Training

In Kinstretch, our goal is to promote joint health and enhance strength through the optimization of neurological input. This approach not only increases your range of motion (ROM) but also strengthens your muscles throughout that ROM. By accomplishing this, we improve your ability to engage in various activities with a reduced risk of injury. Our approach focuses on training within the joints full range of motion, not solely in the mid ranges, providing a well-rounded approach to fitness.

  • Training within the jointโ€™s full range of motion:

    - can help maintain the health of the synovial membrane, a vital component of joint health responsible for producing synovial fluid.

    - helps distribute synovial fluid, the natural lubricant in your joints, more effectively. This lubrication reduces friction and wear and tear on the joint surfaces.

    - increases blood flow to the joint, which delivers essential nutrients and removes waste products.

    - prevents the joint from becoming stiff and losing flexibility. Stiffness can lead to discomfort and reduced mobility.

  • Kinstretch is a form of strength training. In traditional strength training, the process involves stressing the tissues to hypertrophy (microscopic tears allowing your body to adapt to the stress of this training), subsequently leading to improved tissue development with proper recovery.

Kinstretch, however, refines this approach by targeting specific areas of the body (joints) that require attention. It's widely recognized that as we age, we often experience a gradual loss of both range of motion (ROM) and functional mobility. This decline occurs because our bodies tend to adhere to a "use it or lose it" principle. By participating in a Kinstretch class, you can be absolutely certain that we'll put your body to good use, helping you preserve and enhance your range of motion and overall functional mobility.

  • Enjoying a broader range of motion positively impacts one's quality of life, contributing to a more active and fulfilling lifestyle.

Feeling physically capable and flexible can have positive effects on mental well-being, confidence, and overall self-esteem.

  • Enhanced joint mobility can alleviate discomfort associated with stiffness or restricted movement, potentially reducing chronic pain.

It also helps prevent injuries by allowing the body to move more efficiently and absorb impact or stress during physical activities.

  • Greater joint range of motion results in increased flexibility, allowing for easier and more comfortable movement in various activities.

It supports the proper functioning of muscles, reducing muscle imbalances and promoting better muscle engagement.

  • Greater range of motion contributes to better balance and coordination, reducing the risk of falls and enhancing overall stability.

It also supports better posture by enabling the body to assume and maintain optimal positions with greater ease.
